Choice versus Decision
Okay,
so here’s what I’m noticing as I go farther into the concept
of Decision Coaching - lots of people hate making
decisions. For many, decisions feel heavy or scary. So let
me offer you another perspective.
CHOICE
Every day
we have the opportunity to choose. Do you choose the double
cheeseburger or the salad? Do you choose to sleep in an
extra 20 minutes or head to the gym? Do you choose to stay
in a relationship that’s not healthy or to get the heck
out? Do you choose to persist or give up? Do you choose
failure or success? Do you choose love or loneliness?
Every one
of us has the freedom to choose. Making choices is a
privilege that gives us the freedom to mold our lives, a
freedom we should never take for granted!
We can
choose what character traits we will live by; we can
choose what values to live by; we can choose what to
focus on; we can choose what actions to take.
Do you choose to be victim or someone who thrives? Do you
choose to be a liar or a person of integrity? Do you choose
to focus on what prevents you from succeeding or on what you
need to do next in order to succeed? Do you choose laziness
or perseverance? Remember, it’s always YOUR choice!
Successful people – whether their success is in business,
relationships, health, finances, or spirituality – have one
thing in common. They make a high percentage of good
choices and they recover quickly from their bad choices.
How do they increase the percentage of good choices? When
they make a bad choice, they learn from it and avoid
repeating it. It’s a simple formula.
Choices
direct the path we follow; they lead us toward or away from
what we truly want most. It’s not only the big
choices that make the difference. It’s choices you repeat
i.e. a double cheeseburger every day can put you in an early
grave while exercising regularly can keep your body strong
and healthy. Success in anything means repeating the
good choices consistently and not repeating the bad
choices. However, it requires daily consciousness and
attention. A coach can help ;)
So if
this perspective supports you…forget about making
decisions and just remember to be conscious and
choose well.
